The paper focusses on quantifying how accurately current design approaches predict eigenfrequencies of wind turbines based on on-site measurements of accelerations, converted to eigenfrequencies, for a number of operating wind turbines in a recently built wind farm in the German part of the North Sea. Uncertainties on different parameters (mass distribution, stiffness, etc.) are considered; however with special focus on the uncertainty on the soil-structure interaction. In general, the predicted eigenfrequencies are lower than the measured eigenfrequencies. The soil-structure interaction model is the main contributor to the discrepancy between the estimated and measured eigenfrequencies. |
