Popis: The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the meta-context in which coaching psychology1 has emerged. The aim is to contextualise coaching, coaching psychology and multi-cultural coaching. The emphasis is further on developments within these domains in both the discipline and profession of broader psychological practice. The chapter is based on inputs received from various stakeholders in the coaching industry and extends on current knowledge, practices and positioning statements both nationally and internationally. A South African definition as well as the value proposition of coaching psychology is presented, followed by a descriptive overview of a meta-framework for further research in the application of coaching psychology in multi-cultural contexts.
