Popis: Only nondiapausing pupae developed from late 5th instars of Heliothis zea (Boddie) collected on or before August 22 from cars of corn and held in field-emergence cages in 1966-67, 1967-68, and 1969-70; both nondiapausing and diapausing pupae developed from larvae collected between August 30 and September 26; and the 1st diapausing pupae developed from larvae collected August 30. The peak percentages of diapausing pupae developed from larvae collected between September 13 and 23. Adult emergence in the spring occurred as early as April 26 and as late as June 15, but the date the diapausing pupae developed in the fall had little or no bearing no the date of adult emergence in the spring. Peak emergence of adults occurred between May 15 and May 25. Collections in light traps indicated that boll worm moths migrate into the Mississippi Delta before the local moths emerge.
