Optimum temperature-rate regime for the top-pouring of rail steel

Popis: We first inspected batch I, which consisted of rails made of steels Ko71 and K~ (the batch included more than I00 heats from current production). According to the data obtained (Fig. la), the yield of class-I rails made of steel K-71 (type R-43) increases somewhat with an increase in teeming temperature (1530~ or more). No such trend was established for the rails of steel K-74. For both grades, it was found that teeming temperature has no effect on the percentage of rails rejected for seams (Fig. Ib). An increase in teeming temperature helped reduce the percentage of rails rejected for scabs (Fig. ic).
