This paper introduces a solution for construction engineering showcasing how a smart phone can be used to view imagery from a building information modeling -software. The system is able to identify construction elements, utilize mobile networks for imagery queries, provide different types of imagery from the modeling software and view this imagery on the smart phone. The restrictions of construction site environment and mobile solutions for construction engineering were examined and taken into account during the development. The system has been successfully implemented, tested and found functional. It can be used to enhance information management in construction engineering by digitalizing paper documents such as drawings and blueprints. |
