Popis: | Aqueous solutions of poly(fumaric acid) (PFA) and poly(maleic acid) (PMA) at various degrees of neutralization were studied. It was found that about 50 % of the carboxyl groups of PFA can form intramolecular hydrogen bonding. The carboxyl groups of PMA can form intramolecular hydrogen bonding among the four equivalent carboxyl groups which resonate each other. The difference in titration curves between PFA and PMA is due to the different extent and type of the hydrogen bondings produced from their configurational difference, in addition to simple electrostatic interaction. |
