Popis:	1-(5-uracilylmethyl)pyridinium salts react with 9, 10-dihydrophenanthridine, Hantzsch ester or thiols (RSH, R = p-nitrobenzyl, t-butyl) to form thymine derivatives. The mechanisms of the reactions are discussed.
