Popis: Unlike the rat, the cat is dependent upon a dietary source of taurine. Cats maintained on taurine-deficient diets show profound and rapid falls in plasma taurine concentrations, followed by slower falls in tissue concentrations. Taurine deficiency in cats is associated with a large number of problems, including retinal degeneration and blindness (1), dilated cardiomyopathy (9), and reproductive (11) and developmental disorders (10,12).
