Polarization of protons elastically scattered from beryllium

Popis: The polarization in proton elastic scattering from 9 Be was measured using the polarized beam from a tandem accelerator. Angular distributions of the polarization were measured at twelve energies between 3.0 and 12.0 MeV. An optical-model analysis was performed of the present polarization measurements and previously measured cross sections. The optical model was found to reproduce the data quantitatively only for incident proton energies above 9 MeV.
