This study investigates, how emotion regulation (ER) effects the relation of susceptibility to emotional contagion with negative emotions (nSEC), and susceptibility to emotional contagion with positive emotions (pSEC) with life satisfaction. The main aims of this study are as follows: First, investigating the relation of pSEC and nSEC with life satisfaction and replicating the findings of Marx (2020). Second, exploring the effects of the emotion regulation facets reappraisal and suppression on above mentioned association. If ER has a moderating effect on the relationship between susceptibility to emotional contagion (SEC) and life satisfaction, it offers a possible way to mitigate negative effects and reinforce positive effects of automatic emotional contagion on life satisfaction. Training in effective ER strategies through coaching and therapy could then have positive impact on life satisfaction. The study will try to answer the question, to what extent nSEC and pSEC are correlated with life satisfaction and how ER moderates such an association. |
