Popis: | Esteban Group LLC is proposed to develop an apartment complex on privately owned land just south of Esteban Park. In accordance with the archaeological stipulations within the City of Phoenix Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 8, Section 802(B), it is the City’s policy to assist with the preservation of archaeological and historic resources within developments, where appropriate. Arizona Revised Statute § 41-865 states that it is unlawful for persons to disturb human burials and associated grave goods on private land. In June 2004, archaeological testing was conducted on the subject parcel and resulted in the identification of 46 features. A total of 10 burials were also identified during the testing phase. The human remains were removed when they were encountered in the field. Given the distribution of human remains, it is likely that more human remains exist within the project APE. EPG was retained by Esteban Group LLC to conduct data recovery to identify and remove any remaining human burials associated with the parcel proposed for development. |
