Popis:	In this article, the Centers for Disease Control’s Universal Precautions Policy is outlined. Specific recommendations are made for personal barrier protection and the handling and cleaning or disposal of equipment in office and operating room situations common in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. For the health care worker sustaining percutaneous exposure to blood, wound care, patient evaluation, and zidovudine prophylaxis are presented as treatment options.
