The 2050 Project was a multi-year effort launched by the World Resources Institute, the Brookings Institution and the Santa Fe Institute.1 It was undertaken to explore the question: how can we achieve a sustainable existence on this planet by the middle of the next century? To answer this, however, one must first ask: what are the essential components of a sustainable existence? Food security is a fundamental aspect of any desirable sustainable future, and the implications for food security of potential climate change and other global changes must be considered in any scenario of the future. |
