Resonance Raman effect of the tetrathiosquarate ion: another example of Jahn—Teller mode enhancement

Popis:	The resonance Raman spectrum of tetrathiosquarate was investigated, revealing a very substantial enhancement of the Raman band at 1075 cm −1 , assigned to the ν(CC+CS) mode of the B 1g species. The selective enhancement of this mode, the absence of enhanced totally-symmetric modes and the dispersion of the depolarization ratio are very strong indications that in tetrathiosquarate the Jahn—Teller effect is operative, as already verified for the parent ion squarate.
