Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a material quite used in the construction industry due to its lightening and insulating properties as is the case with the panels placed on slabs of mezzanine or ceilings in main order to lighten these elements, and therefore the structure in general. Due to the time of this lightening material degradation, it is regarded as one of the main pollutants on the planet, by what is aims to reduce their use and replace it with materials potentially recyclable. It is proposed to develop a new material using polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and resins to replace the polystyrene cassette and improve its thermal and acoustic insulating properties, as well as high impermeability. All laboratory tests (density, compression, absorption, resistance to temperature changes, etc.) will be carried out in order to demonstrate whether or not the developed material is more efficient than the expanded polystyrene for this particular use. The compressive strength of the traditional coffered ceiling oscillates between 0.6-1.4 kg/cm2, the resistance obtained from the models tested in this investigation was between 7.21-7.35 kg/cm2 always maintaining a lower volumetric weight than the concrete as indicated by the norm. |
