Resource investment in reproduction and its consequences were compared for three iteroparous plant species, Pinguicula alpina, P. villosa and P. vulgaris, in a subarctic environment. Resource investment (dry matter, nitrogen and phosphorus) was estimated as reproductive effort, RE, and the consequences as relative somatic cost of reproduction, RSC, and as decreased post-breeding survival and reproduction. The relative reproductive allocation varied from 0.2 (N & P in large P. alpina plants) to 0.7 (dry matter of small P. villosa) (...) |
