Popis: The cover picture summarizes the principle of the Microslit Electrokinetic Set-Up, which has been applied for the combined determination of zeta potential and surface conductivity of polymer films for biosensor applications. The method is based on streaming potential and streaming current measurements across rectangular channels formed by two planar sample carriers (20 mm×10 mm) at varied distances in the range of 1 to 60 μm. Combined determination of zeta potential and surface conductivity was advantageous for the analysis of interfacial charge distributions at swelling and reorganizing solid surfaces. The high sensitivity of the surface conductivity for structural variations of layered substrates may even allow the use of this parameter for detection in future biosensors.
