Popis: | Aiming at new cost-effective, high performance catalyst for low temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), partial or complete replacement of Pt metal has been under great effort by many research groups, due to the slow kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in acid media. Some Pt-free catalysts have shown remarkable catalytic activity toward O2 reduction, such as carbonized catalase, Coor Fe-based catalysts, and pyrolyzed macrocyclic compounds. Nevertheless, very few were reported for those that could replace platinum as the anode catalyst in PEMFCs except for tungsten carbide. As yet, tungsten carbide and its mixture with other metals showed very low activity for hydrogen oxidation reaction although they showed good resistant to CO and acid. |
