Popis: Satellite extended life estimation is an area of growing interest in the space domain. Reliability based estimates of extended life projections can support a wide range of informed decision-making applications such as constellation replenishment, launch date planning, and end-of life disposal operations. As satellites operate beyond their design lifetime, predicting the onset of failure or estimating the residual lifetime is key in making the right decisions in order to maintain high operational availability and ensure space sustainability by minimizing space debris generation. One of the degradation modeling techniques showing promising results is the pseudo-lifetime method. In this paper, we investigate its application to the reliability modeling of solar array generators in GeoStationary satellites. We compare results with traditional reliability prediction approaches and explore some of its benefits, limitations, and potential dangers.
