Popis: | This paper describes the further development of scales to measure patterns of insecure attachment in adults. Following Bowlby, four patterns of insecure attachment are defined: Compulsive care seeking, compulsive care giving, compulsive self-reliance and generalized anger toward attachment figure. Empirical validation was accomplished through a study involving 136 respondents to a community survey and 110 psychiatric outpatients in a general hospital setting. Psychometric validation included analyses of internal reliability, test-retest reliability, and discriminant validity between scales. The clinical relevance of the attachment construct was addressed in relationship to dependent and schizoid personality disorders. Using responses from the clinical sample of 110 patients, a regression analysis was used to investigate the association between compulsive care seeking, compulsive self-reliance, and the above personality disorders.
