Martin Seligman, in his book Flourish: A new understanding of the nature of happiness and well-being, calls into question five aspects in which well-being can be measured, the so-called Theory of Well-being or also called PERMA, due to to the initials of such aspects in English, these being 1) Positive emotions or positive emotions (P), 2) engagement or engagement (E), 3) relationship or positive relationships (R), 4) meaning or meaning (M) , 5) accomplishment or accomplishment (A). Since positive psychology seeks to bring a new look, turning more to the positive aspects of human beings and their relationships. This work aims to expose and clarify the concepts of happiness and well-being, from the point of view of positive psychology, in order to show the reader the importance of such positive aspects of daily life and experiences so that it is possible to achieve and experience well-being. be. Therefore, this article is an analysis of the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness”, translated into Portuguese as “À Procura da Felicidade” or “In Busca da Felicidade”, from the perspective of positive psychology, more precisely about the Theory of Happiness. of Seligman's well-being. Thus, some relevant points observed in the film are analyzed and characterized, demonstrating how they fit into Seligman's vision and everyday experiences. It is concluded that the search for well-being and happiness is not only given by the moment of accomplishment or at the moment of completion of the tasks, but also by the effort made, by the help received and by the meaning attributed to the task. |
