Mechanical properties of BiSrCaCuO/Ag superconductors

Popis: Highly textured Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox (2-2-1-2) and Bi1.8Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox (2-2-2-3) bars of various densities were fabricated by sinter forging. Some bars contained 10–20 vol% particulate Ag additions. It was found that the Ag additions had little influence on either strength or fracture toughness, although slight benefits may have resulted for specimens less than ≈ 90% dense. Good phase purities and high densities led to the good overall mechanical properties.
