Feudalism has significantly nurtured upon colonialism. Popular as a strong system in medieval Europe, it is still prevalent in Asian countries. Generally, it aims to provide order and structure during times of crisis and is centered on the power of owning land. This study explores the effect of feudalism on gender relations in post-colonial Pakistan through an analysis of the portrayal of the male-female relationships in My Feudal Lord by Tehmina Durrani. It discusses literary representation of the antagonists in narratives as relational and their performative roles as best understood with the help of performance theory. |
