Large aperture size terahertz transmitarray for near-field applications

Popis: As is well known, a large-scale antenna can have constant approximate amplitude of the electric field in its near-field region. Based on this, a 140 GHz large-scale transmitarray antenna is designed, fabricated and measured in this paper for near-distance communication applications. Simulation results show that a distance of 400 mm with nearly unchanged electric field can be achieved by an antenna with an aperture size of 44×44 mm2 (20.5 λ×20.5λ) and a distance of 3000 mm can be achieved by an antenna with an aperture size of 132×132 mm2 (61.6λ×61.6λ). The small transmitarray antenna has a gain of 29.08 dBi, and an aperture efficiency of 19.4%. All transmitarray antennas are fabricated by the PCB technique.
