Popis: The technique of perfusion of the isolated head of the trout ( Salmo gairdneri ) was re-examined. The trout head was perfused using two physiological solutions, one (solution B ) containing plasma proteins and having the same viscosity as the blood of the trout. 1. 2. The influx of sodium and the vascular pressure were measured and the gills examined using light and electron microscopy. The use of solution B prevents oedema formation in the primary lamellae, allows a good perfusion for 1 hr, but does not change significantly the sodium influx and the vascular pressure.
