Popis: The laparoscopic approach to the repair of parastomal hernias has proven to be superior to the open approach. While many approaches to laparoscopic repair have been described, the use of mesh is consistently described in all of them. The use of a keyhole to allow exit of the intestine through the mesh has proven to be associated with an unacceptably high recurrence rate; the Sugarbaker and modified Sugarbaker repairs have been shown to be the most successful methods. These operations can be done via the laparoscopic or robotically assisted laparoscopic techniques. This chapter will discuss the methodology of these similar repairs as well as the results that have been reported in the literature. The robotic approach is described using the author’s experience, as there is no currently published data that details this method.
