Natural radioactivity of sand samples by low-level gamma spectrometry

Popis:	The natural radioactivities of compressed powdered sand samples from different locations along the Qena-Safaga highway were measured in face to face geometry applying a low-level γ-ray spectrometry method. The average measured values of U, Th and K are: 6.3, 6.2 and 1.5 × 104 ppm, respectively. Some samples were found to be free from thorium to the minimum detectable activity of the spectrometer. Results are discussed and compared with other results presented.
