Popis: | This paper discusses the modelling and simulation research work carried out in analyzing performance of a dual substrate patch antenna for Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) applications. Numerous research work has been carried out in analysis and development of single substrate patch antennae for various wireless applications. The proposed work explores possibilities of use of multiple substrates to improve the overall performance with regards to dimension, gain, directivity, reflection coefficient and other critical antenna related parameters. A dual substrate (FR4 + RT/Duroid 5880) material has been used for laying of an H-type patch antenna for operation in the UHF band which complies with the ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 format for physical dimensions. As the antenna dimension is smaller compared to the theoretically calculated values, slots/slits have been cut out on the patch for obtaining the resonance at the desired frequency band. The antenna has been designed for operation in the 865–867 MHz band. Ansys HFSS V13.0 has been used for carrying out the simulation of the designed antenna. Results of the simulation have been analyzed and a comparative performance of the designed antenna with a single substrate patch antenna has also been studied in this paper. |
