Popis: | The development of a track structure model for the spatial distribution of energy deposition events is given. The aim of this model is to explain the different effectiveness of various radiation types. It is shown that the track structure of electrons and ions can be approximated by a function of energy in terms of the stopping power, the average energy loss per event and the average radius of the track. By carefully considering the complete slowing down process of a primary particle an approximation to the distribution of locally dissipated energy, which is used to explain the radiation effectiveness, is obtained. |
