Archaeological monitoring works were undertaken for Central Scotland Green Network Trust in an area associated with the Antonine Wall in support of the upgrading of a section of cycle path. The archaeological works were designed to mitigate any adverse impact on the archaeological remains within the affected areas. The excavation of three pits for manhole chambers and four sections of drain were monitored as part of these works. The only evidence of anthropic activity within these areas related to previous field drainage works and no material relating to the Roman occupation was uncovered. |
