Popis: | Contactless ultrahigh-speed microfilming techniques have been employed for determining the key parameters controlling the process of disintegration of a molten metal drop by a stream of air flowing past it. Satisfactory agreement has been obtained between experimental and calculated data. The loss of stability experienced by a drop in an air stream is mainly due to axisymmetric vibrations, which leads to its disruption. Theoretical expressions have been derived for the dependence of the comminution number n on the Weber factor We, giving good agreement with experimental results at values of We ranging from 10 to 16. |
