Popis: | Diagnostic and Therapy of the Intraductal-Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm of the Pancreas – a Case Report Background: Cystic lesions of the pancreas present a differentially diagnostic challenge. Harmless cystic lesions have to be distinguished from neoplasm. The intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) is one of the most frequent cystic lesions of the pancreas. Case Report: We report on a 68-year-old man in whom a cystic lesion in the area of the pancreatic head was diagnosed by chance in the course of the tumor follow-up after resection of a multilocular colon carcinoma. Clinically, he was totally asymptomatic. Due to the performed examinations, including CT, endosonography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, a localization in the main pancreatic duct could be proved. After having excluded a metastasis the indication of the Kausch-Whipple duodenopancreatectomy was determined. Histology showed a borderline IPMN of the pancreatic head without malignancy. Conclusion: Based on this case study, etiology, symptoms, diagnosis and therapy are discussed. |
