Popis: Objective: To understand the extent and type of guidance available for the management of dental caries in children. Introduction: Despite concepts on the management of caries advancing over the past ten years, with a shift in evidence supporting the efficacy and benefits of minimally invasive dentistry, a recent national survey found wide disparity in the content of curricula for undergraduate dental students in the UK regarding caries management in children and some teaching practices that are no longer supported by evidence as being best practice. Inclusion criteria: All guidelines that include information on management of dental caries in children and young people. These guidelines must have been developed using a structured guideline methodology. Guidelines on the management of dental caries that are endorsed or created by a recognised dental organisation and written by multiple authors. Guidance that will be excluded are position statements, expert opinion pieces, those not endorsed by relevant dental organisations and those funded by companies. Methods: Electronic databases (Cochrane Library, PubMed, TRIP Medical Database and Web of Science) will be searched using the search term “caries management guidance” “caries management guideline” “caries management protocol” within the year range 2007-2022. Hand searching and searching of conference discussions will also be undertaken. Only studies written in English will be included. Data synthesis and interpretation will adopt a narrative approach initially using Excel.
