Popis: Vanadyl α-and β-polyphosphates in vapor phase oxidation of 2-methylpyridine show comparable activity and selectivity to the formation of pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde as traditional vanadium-molybdeum oxide catalysts. A redox mechanism for the reaction of 2-methylpyridine oxidation on vanadyl polyphosphates is suggested with interaction between 2-methylpyridine and oxygen of the catalyst lattice as the rate-determining step.
