Overvoltage analysis on submarine cables of atmospheric origin and due to switching operations

Popis: This paper presents the calculation results of internal overvoltages on the 35 kV submarine cables and an outlook to expected atmospheric overvoltages. Calculation results show that overvoltage factors do not exceed the following maximum values: overvoltages due to single-pole faults=2.53; overvoltages due to the connection of load=1.76; overvoltages due to the interruption of single-pole faults=1.63; and overvoltages due to load disconnection=1.00. By far the highest internal overvoltages are obtained in case of single-pole short-circuits. It should be noted that in that case, overvoltages are higher at lower load and at maximum faulted phase voltage. (5 pages)
