Popis:	Six of the eight tyrosine residues in human pituitary growth hormone are found to react with tetranitromethane in pH 8.0 Tris buffer and the modified hormone retains full lactogenic activity but contains only 60% of the growth-promoting potency. In the presence of 5 M guanidine · HCl all eight tyrosines are nitrated by the reagent and there is a complete loss of both lactogenic and growth-promoting activities.
