The archaeological evaluation forms part of a staged approach to understanding the archaeological implications of the proposed development, following the advice of James Kenny, archaeology advisor to the LPA. This document provides the results of the archaeological evaluation, which comprised the excavation of 68 30m X 2m trial trenches. It may be concluded that the evaluation has demonstrated that there is very limited archaeological potential within the Site. Only one archaeological feature was observed a single, small discrete prehistoric pit. Coupled with the shallow depth of cover of topsoil across the site which would suggest that any archaeological features would have been adversely affected by later activity within the Site. |
