In order to deal with the problems of the squirrel cage induction motors consisting in rotor bars breaking, a numerical model is usually necessary. In this paper, we have developed a Finite element model which is based solely on geometrical data, material parameters, winding distributions, and solving of the Maxwell equations by considering the geometry of the structures and the properties of the materials, but the model complexity and high time resolution have pushed to pass to the electrical circuit model (multi-windings), which is based on a detailed modeling of the induction motors, and is enabled to detect and localize the completely and partially broken rotor bars. The simulation results of different electrical quantities such as the stator currents, PARK currents, and torque…, show the effectiveness of the two models, and allow for the detection of these defects. |
