Popis: The chapter describes the forms and problems of inter- and transdisciplinary knowledge practices in sustainability research and governance. The limits of economic and ecological knowledge, the integration of economic and ecological criteria, and the valuation of natural resources are controversial themes. The transfer and application of economic knowledge and its use in sustainability programmes and global environmental governance creates new problems with the changing relations between science and policy and with participation of non-governmental actors in decision-making. It is concluded that new forms of knowledge production, communication and application are required to integrate knowledge, to combine economic and ecological valuation criteria and to improve decision-making processes in the process of sustainability governance.
