Popis: | Salicylate and γ-resorcylate, in concentrations ranging from 2 to 20 mM, exert multiple effects on the metabolism of radioactive glucose by mature human erythrocytes. The drugs interfere with glycolytic reactions, inhibiting hexokinase and lactate dehydrogenase activities, and with the pentose phosphate pathway by inhibiting glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity. γ-Resoreylate (10 and 20 mM) but not salicylate, inhibits phosphofructokinase activity. |
