Popis:	In this paper, the author defines the term ‘alternative’. He then makes a tentative exploration of knowledge systems, examines the strengths of two folk forms from India that have prevailed as alternative approaches to communication, and surmises that much more analyses needs to be done specially at the point of reception of ‘local-specific’ alternative means of communication.
