Popis: Term diagnosis is a popular word in today’s scenario. Such a diagnosis is carried out by the physicians with the help of medical images generated by the acquisition devices. Such digital images vary with a huge amount of volumetric data that needs a large storage space. An efficient compression algorithm solves the problem, which is achieved by the proposed method of using a wavelet-based transform for decomposing the image utilizing less memory. To enhance the quality of the image, we propose to utilize the optimization with evolutionary algorithms. It works on the principle evolution of species and its mechanism. Artificial bee colony and particle swarm optimization are compared here in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), mean square error (MSE) and compression ratio (CR).
