The first chapter serves as an introduction to the monographic study, it therefore begins with a review of the notion of “process” as such, as well as of various existing process classifications. The subsequent sections present the conceptual scope of the terms BPO—Business Process Orientation and BPM—Business Process Management, attention is also drawn to management concepts and methods developed on the foundation of the process approach. Differences between business process management and process management are highlighted along with the main success factors and limitations pertinent to the implementation of process management in production companies and administration institutions, respectively. Attention is drawn to process lifecycle management which constitutes the basis for the approach presented in the study. |
