Popis: | There have been several attempts to develop an abbreviated form of the MMPI (Foulds, Caine, & Geasy, 1960; Jorgenson, 1958). Kincannon (1968) has recently constructed a 71-item short form MMPI known as the Mini-Mult. He found significant correlations between rhe standard and Mini-Mult forms when used with an outpatient psychiatric population. When t tests for MMPI -Mini-Mult differences were calculated, significant differences (p < .05) were found between the means for the F, Hs and Ma scales. It was estimated that a 9% loss in reliability and a 14% loss in correspondence occurred when the MiniMult was compared with the readministration of the standard form. It was felt that the loss in reliability and correspondence was nor sufficient to preclude its use if the full test could not be administered. Armentrout and Router ( 1970) investigated the validity of the Mini-Mult with delinquents. Group results indicated close correspondence between MMPI and Mini-Mult profiles for both sexes. Correspondence between the standard and Mini-Mult was examined further by determining the number of cases in which administration of fie Mini-Mult resulted in accurate decisions about the validity, high points, acd elevation of the standard MMPI profile. The results of the analysis showed a decrease in correspondence between the two instruments when profile pkrs were studied individually in terms of detection of invalid profiles, correspondence of high points and similarity in elevation. Lacks (1970) examined the Mini-Mult in an acute, intensive treatment center with 94 adult inpatients. Product-moment correlations between the scales of the two forms ranged from .68 to .89 with a median of 33. When t tests for MMPI-Mini-Mulr differe~ces were calculated, scores on scales F and Ma were found to be significantly lower on the Mini-Mult. Further analysis indicated that agreement between the two forms ranged from 91% to 100% in predicting |
