In my upper-division, undergraduate research course of Survey Research, I have revised my approach to the course, with each time focusing more on the different components of the writing process. As a course designated writing emphasis for our university curriculum, the class asks students to both master the science of survey research methods and the ability to use writing as a means of gaining and expressing an understanding of a subject. This narrative discusses how I have shifted my approach to the class to focus more on developing students’ writing skills, through breaking down the research process into smaller assignments such as an annotated bibliography. |
