Popis: This review explored the latest progress (since 2017) in solar photocatalysis for water decontamination and disinfection, including three sections focused on decontamination by heterogeneous photocatalysis, decontamination by solar photo-Fenton and disinfection. Semiconductor (SC) heterogeneous photocatalysis is still the most extended area of research covering classical issues as single materials (TiO2 is majoritarian) but also a combination of SC, doping and composites, suspended or supported, applied to water decontamination and disinfection. Other matters are gaining interest for decontamination and disinfection as metal-free, natural and biologically synthesized photocatalysts, photocatalysis with additional (different to oxygen) oxidants, the synergy between active carbon adsorption and photocatalysis, and composites based on graphitic carbon nitride or graphene. Disinfection by homogeneous solar photocatalysis (mainly photo-Fenton at circumneutral pH and low iron concentration) with and without iron chelates and/or additional oxidants is also an extended area of research. Microcontaminants (contaminants of emerging concern) removal by homogeneous photo-Fenton at circumneutral pH and low iron concentration was also studied, very often in combination with disinfection for permitting municipal wastewater reuse. Photo-Fenton and photo-Fenton like processes are already established as a relevant research area, including electro processes and heterogeneous photocatalysts. Interesting studies in classical photo-Fenton (acidic pH) were mainly focused on industrial wastewater and leachates.
