Popis: The Defense Ammunition Logistics Agency has a Munitions Survivability Technology (MST) Program for examining different shielding concepts for the field expedient protection of munitions. Recent MST tests showed the effects of a detonating munition stack (Hazard 1.1) on shielded stacks of mixed munitions. In these tests, barricades were formed from water bags or sand-filled Concertainer bins to see if a violent reaction would be prevented in the mixed munitions. Aside from practical considerations like cost, transportability, and constructibility, any barricade must be effective against ammunition hazards such as mass detonation and cookoff (Water bags were previously tested against cookoff) In these tests, both barricades were exposed to a mass detonation hazard for the first time.
