Popis: | A very limited work has been done to understand the fracture in laminated automotive glazing when the head impacts on the windshields or side windows. A good understanding of the fracture plays a critical role in designing the laminated glass for utmost safety in automotive glazing. A finite element method based on the energy release rate criterion (J-integral criterion) is employed to determine the crack initiation time and location. A parametric study is done to determine the effect of various geometric parameters on the crack initiation time and location. Also, the cracking behavior of a monolithic glass is evaluated and compared with that of the laminated glass of comparable thickness. |
