A shortcoming of the advection-diffusion equation and the random walk model is the fact that both models describe the dispersion correctly if a certain time period is passed after the moment of release of a slug of mass. In the random walk model this is caused by the driving noise in the stochastic equation which is modelled as a Wiener process and, as a consequence, has independent increments. Therefore we propose a random flight model in which the increments are assumed to be exponentially correlated in time. |
