Popis: | Physical and psychosomatic examinations were performed on 356 A-bomb survivors during the 4-yr period complained of fatigue and vertigo, 118 of whom had had no corresponding explanation. There was no significant change in the blood and bone marrow other than a tendency to a higher incidence of either anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, or their combination, particularly in those who had been exposed at a small distance from the hypocenter. In psychosomatic aspects, almost all the survivors had some complaints such as anxiety, a feeling that their lives were hopeless, and fear of A-bomb effects on their descendants. Bodily complaints seemed to stem from a neurotic basis. Since information on sequelae of A-bomb disease has come mainly from mass communication sources (67%) and also partially from physicians (21%), it should be emphasized that both mass communication sources and physicians must be very cautious in describing the morbid sequelae.
